Jamee's Story![]() My name is Jamee Allen. I am 18. I am a sister, daughter, lover and dancer. In June of 2011, I was diagnosed with cancer that was targeted in my lower femur. The doctors had predicted that chemotherapy treatments would occupy the next 10 months of my life. About two weeks after the chemo was administered, I noticed that my hair was coming out. Locks of hair were falling to the floor. I knew I would isolate myself once I was bald. I would be not only a victim to circumstance, but also to myself. Shortly after that, I was introduced to the Angel Hair Foundation. Debbie Wright kindly helped me through one of the toughest times I would endure. Everything from the selection of a cranial hair prosthetic to the head shave was an emotional experience. Though each started rough, each always ended in smiles. I selected a prosthetic that I adore. I feel like a new person when I put on my Angel Hair; I can strut around and feel normal again. Having my confidence back is just one benefit of my prosthetics. I also go to movies, shop with my friends and meet people with the comfort of knowing my hair looks great. Additionally, I can straighten, curl, and even wash my hair. I used to love straightening my hair, and having that option back is a gift. I would really like to thank Debbie and her amazing Foundation for helping me and so many other people who just want to feel normal and confident again. I love my hair!! The Angel Hair Foundation, a private, non-profit corporation, reaches out to children in Oregon who have lost their hair due to medical illness. It provides the funding needed to purchase natural looking, quality hair systems, often called Angel Hair. The foundation was started when Staci, daughter of Market of Choice President Rick Wright, went through chemotherapy and received a prosthetic hair system.
